A citywide year-long series of events highlighting Atlanta as a nexus for reinventing the cultural and economic bonds among Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
Modeled on the highly successful France-Atlanta Initiative, Africa Atlanta 2014 has been organized by the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at the Georgia Institute of Technology in collaboration with the Consulate General of Belgium in Atlanta. Designed as a robust cross-cultural interdisciplinary collaboration of multiple stakeholders across the City of Atlanta, events throughout the metropolitan area are anchored by a remarkable art exhibition, KONGO across the WATERS. It is co-curated by the Royal Museum of Central Africa (RMCA) in Tervuren, Belgium, and the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art at the University of Florida who draw from both RMCA collections and collections in the United States. This touring exhibit opens at the University of Florida in the Fall of 2013, arrives in Atlanta in Summer 2014, and then travels to the Princeton University Art Museum and to the Museum of Art in New Orleans. The Atlanta opening is a collaboration between the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts and the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum. Before, during, and after the anchor exhibition, an exciting range of complementary events organized by partners across the city and the region offer a variety of activities related to the African/European/American experience, highlighting the arts and humanities; science and technology; enterprise and innovation; education and public engagement.

The Atlanta International Arbitration Society
The Atlanta International Arbitration Society (“AtlAS”) is a non-profit organization that seeks to enhance Atlanta’s stature and position as a venue for the resolution of international commercial and investment disputes and to nurture the growth of an international arbitration community in the southeastern United States. AtlAS works with leaders in government, the State Bar and the judiciary to ensure that Georgia’s legislation and bar rules are supportive of international arbitration and that parties selecting Georgia as an arbitral seat or place for hearings will find an environment that is conducive to the fair, efficient and cost-effective resolution of cross-border business disputes. AtlAS also educates judges, neutrals, lawyers in private practice, corporate counsel and law students regarding the substantive law, practice and culture of international arbitration, as well as civic, business and government leaders regarding the benefits of a vibrant international arbitration center to Atlanta, the State of Georgia, the southeastern United States, and beyond.

AllAfrica is a voice of, by and about Africa – aggregating, producing and distributing 2000 news and information items daily from over 130 African news organizations and our own reporters to an African and global public. We operate from Cape Town, Dakar, Lagos, Monrovia, Nairobi and Washington DC.
Even before the 1996 Olympics put Atlanta on the world’s map, Global Atlanta Publisher Phil Bolton saw globalization taking place in his backyard.
That sparked a news innovation that remains unique to this day: covering international business from a local perspective.
Two decades later, we remain the only publication devoted to this important niche in Atlanta and Georgia.
Through personal, in-depth reporting published on our website and summarized in ourweekly email newsletter, Global Atlanta tracks how local companies are engaging with the global economy and how foreign enterprises are fueling Atlanta’s rise as an international business center.
Now published solely online, GlobalAtlanta.com knits together Atlanta’s disparate international communities, revealing its ties with the world while helping local readers navigate the nuances of the global economy.
Our international calendar is the most comprehensive source for the latest academic, business and cultural events around the city.
Readers can expect to a steady stream of articles on cross-border business, education, culture and trade with a focus on “actionable” content. We’ve always sought to inspire emails, phone calls, event attendance and personal connections. Our only bias is toward promoting Atlanta as a global business center.
